Stone 101

Part of my role as a nationally certified interior designer is to keep up with industry codes and trends, as well as knowing how to properly specify products/materials.  Some of this was learned in design school and much of it comes from work experience and continuing education via seminars and trainings.

Last night I was fulfilling some of my continuing education units at the Marble Institute of America’s stone seminar held at the Dal Tile showroom.  I was reminded of how technical stone specifications can be and how important it is to not only specify the appropriate stone for each particular installation and client, but also how to maintain stone properly.  One of the highlights of the seminar was a walk through the showroom to see the amazing variety of stone slabs…

The many varieties of stone can be a beautiful addition to your project, but it is imperative that you not only select the right stone for your installation, but that you seal and/or maintain it properly.  If you have any questions or hesitations, I highly recommend you contact a design or stone professional for the right information.
