The paint companies recently released their color forecasts for 2016 and the trend across the board was…WHITE! Benjamin Moore revealed their color of the year as Simply White OC-117, which is already one of our favorite whites. Designers are constantly faced with choosing the perfect white, and this crisp shade is a great option to offer brightness to a variety of spaces.

There are endless ways to use white in interiors, but it is especially dynamic when used in either monochromatic or high-contrast color schemes. In a predominantly light interior, whites, creams, and taupes work together to create a sense of calmness. There is a spa-like quality to how clean and soft whites become when they are layered upon one another.

Using white as an accent against other colors creates high contrast and strong focal points. For example, painted white trim pops when used with darker painted walls. The classic combination of black and white is very graphic and demands attention – something that will never go out of style. We love how much movement these contrasting floor patterns bring to otherwise simple rooms.
Perhaps this shade of white will become a go-to for us in the coming year!
