Happy new year to all! After a much needed, relaxing holiday break, we are back to action in our office, designing away. With all of the exciting things happening in the new year, perhaps the most exciting will be the arrival of my baby boy (yep, #1!). His approaching arrival has us thinking of cute nursery design ideas. A sneak peek at some of my nursery inspiration – the well traveled baby.
These travel prints available on Etsy from MMKM Designs allow for customization of a travel-themed gallery wall. Pairing cute sayings like “Oh, the places you’ll go!” with a city or state specific print is a fun way to make the wall personalized to your family’s unique adventures.
I rarely have time for my own DIY projects, but I saw a fantastic map lampshade over the holidays and was inspired to create my own with pieces of several world maps I collected. I’m really happy with the finished product and can’t wait to install this personalized lamp in baby’s room.
As a fan of mid-century modern architecture and furniture (my husband and I live in an Eichler home), we will be using some mid-century furniture pieces in the nursery. This great crib by Dwell Design Studio features classic tapered metal-tipped McCobb legs – such a fun detail.
I am a huge book worm and can’t wait to instill a good example of reading to my son from an early age, so plenty of book storage is a must for our nursery. I love the above ideas for taking a simple spice rack or wall shelf and adding a coat of bright paint to make it pop!
With so many great nursery design ideas out there nowadays, babies are living in style from day one!
Thanks for the post and that the stork is on the way. The travel theme will work with my 13 year old as well. Thanks for the inspiration.
