Biggest Bang for your Buck – Part 2

Continuing on the theme of doors, another great home improvement project is updating interior doors.  Especially if you have dark wood doors or flat panel doors lacking character, installing a new door and adding a coat of fresh white paint can really transform your home.

My brother and sis-in-law are weekend warriors and continually inspire me with their DIY projects.  Their latest conquest?  Applying new molding to their dark, fire-rated door for a beautiful, custom update as shown below…

After = Bright and Fresh…

Also on the to-do list was new interior doors throughout the home…

It’s amazing what a difference the new, dual-paneled doors and fresh white paint make on the overall look and feel of their home.  Kudos to Brett and Amy for a job well done!

I will warn you that my brother is ridiculously handy when it comes to DIY projects, but this same transformation can also be achieved with slightly more money and a little less sweat on your brow, by hiring a handyman or contractor to install and shim out your new doors.  Either way, your home and wallet will thank you for a relatively simple update that makes a big impression.

Best of luck with your own home improvement projects,

Denise Maloney
